We are currently seeing an accelerated technological evolution with large quantities of new devices to access information constantly appearing on the market. Each year, we have new versions of different platforms, either laptops or mobile devices, as well as a complete series of tablets, that provide a whole new range of devices for access to applications, entertainment, games, movies, etc.
An amazing example is the iPad 3. Not so long ago, Apple announced that during the first weekend it was launched several millions of these devices were sold.
This evolution follows a solid trend characterized by the never-ending growth of supply, to such an extent that users find deciding when to change a device is a very difficult and complex procedure. This is one of the crucial items that users must evaluate, especially when it becomes obvious that differences between one platform and another are indeed extremely subtle: a bigger screen or one with a sharper image, cameras with higher resolution, a few more advantages when it comes to processing, and so on.
Given this scenario, it is necessary to ask oneself how to obtain better value, if it does not lie in the type of devices used, since all tend to offer similar capacities. In fact, greater value for users lies in access to the Cloud.
Nowadays, wherever you go, you always have access to the Cloud from your laptop, tablet or smart-phone, and this means that potentially users have access to a world of services therein. That is precisely the main leap that technology has achieved in relation to applications and what is currently being offered to users.
Photographs, access to synchronized documents through Internet, entertainment services, videos, movies, music, all are available. As long as you have access to an Internet connection, it is simple to access a world of information. At the end of the day, if you lose a device, you can change it, update it, buy another one, but all the services are still there.
The same can be said for companies, defined services in a corporate cloud are currently available that make it possible to achieve the same validity and continuity, regardless of the device used. Whether at the office, at home, in a cafe with an iPad, on a business trip at a company branch using a personal video device, it is possible to always access the same services.
Value lies in being able to access a homogeneous service, regardless of the device used, and consequently the user’s geographical location.
